The graphics and sound are excellent, and Jazz Jackrabbit is generally regarded as one of the best DOS games ever.
He's also a great jumper, so perhaps he's Sonic, Mario, and Duke Nukem rolled into one. Finally, Jazz carries a big gun and finds many different kinds of ammo. There are a lot of items to collect, which requires extensive exploration, something that Sonic wouldn't have time for. Being a rabbit, Jazz can run fast, and speed is a major component of the game, warranting instant comparison to Sonic the Hedgehog. Jazz Jackrabbit is a combination of several styles of platform game.
